Disclaimer

If you do not know me (I mean, really know me) then there is something you need to understand before you read this blog: I value the truth above everything else... except a good laugh. A good laugh will almost always beat the truth as far as I’m concerned. Everything you read on this blog will be true, somewhat true, or something I made up in an effort to get a laugh. Sometimes I will go on a rant that I don’t really mean (or only kind of mean). Sometimes I will mean what I write only to completely change my mind a year, month, or day later. Such is life. By reading this blog you agree not to get offended by anything I write (or, at the very least, you agree not to tell me or anyone else that you are offended). It is worth noting that my employer does not endorse my blog (or even read it, to tell you the truth). The Wife also does not endorse my blog (though she will read it from time to time). I am not paid to write this... it’s just my way of giving back to the community. I have, and will, touch on a wide range of subjects and will give my opinion on these subjects. Again, most of what I say is for laughs but every now and then I will say what I really think and feel (see my views on Westboro Baptist Cult). How will you know when I’m serious and when I’m trying to get a laugh? You’ll know. And if you don’t know, well... maybe this isn’t the best thing for you to be reading. So, sit back, read and enjoy. Happy Birthday Avery and Lucas!!

Know Your Medal of Honor Recipients:

Sergeant Co-Rux-Te-Chod-Ish (Mad Bear) (US Army) received his Medal of Honor for his actions on July 8, 1869. His citation reads:

Ran out from the command in pursuit of a dismounted Indian; was shot down and badly wounded by a bullet from his own command.

Sergeant Jefferson Coates (US Army) received his Medal of Honor for his actions on July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. His citation reads:

Unsurpassed courage in battle, where he had both eyes shot out.

First Lieutenant David L. Cockley (US Army) received his Medal of Honor for his actions on December 4, 1864 at Waynesboro, Georgia. His citation reads:

While acting as aide-de-camp to a general officer, he 3 times asked permission to join his regiment in a proposed charge upon the enemy, and in response to the last request, having obtained such permission, joined his regiment and fought bravely at its head throughout the action.

We at I’m just sayin… would like to start today by wishing my second cousin, Avery (daughter of Louis), and my Godson, Lucas, a very happy birthday! As you may know, this birthday is the big one for Lucas (and by “big one” I mean he is now a 1 year old). I can honestly say my life wouldn’t be the same without these little ones in it. Avery is a sweet little girl who doesn’t seem to hate me as much now as she did in the past and Lucas is my first born Godson who I’m pretty sure loves me more than he loves The Wife. I mean, he’ll act like he loves her… but that’s just because he knows she cares about stuff like that more than I do. Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Avery and Lucas! I hope you each have a great day.

Congrats, by the way, to my friends who are fans of the Revolutionary War Heroes! While I am not happy for all RWH fans, I am happy for you. As I told my friend Danny (yes, that Danny), enjoy this 11 win season. As someone who has experienced many 11+ win seasons (with Winthrop), I know how good it can be. Maybe next season will be just as good (or better)… or maybe it will be worse… but now isn’t the time to think about that. Right now you’ve got the school’s first 11 win season and that’s something to enjoy. Just think about how many wins you could have had if Cory had invited me to more games (or any games for that matter since I’m pretty sure I might have invited myself to the Navy game). Just something to think about for next season.

As you may have noticed, we are introducing some new segments to the blog in 2012. One of these is the Quote of the Week. This might not be a recent quote… in fact, there’s a very good chance it won’t be recent. It’s really just a way for me to share with you quotes that I really like. So, here is the quote for this week:

I’m just sayin… Quote of the Week

Always give your best. Never give up. Never be petty. Always remember: Others may hate you. But those who hate you don't win, unless you hate them. And then, you destroy yourself. - Richard Nixon

I am probably the only person ever to use a quote from Richard Nixon as their senior quote in the yearbook. What can I say, I really liked this quote… and I still do.
