Disclaimer

If you do not know me (I mean, really know me) then there is something you need to understand before you read this blog: I value the truth above everything else... except a good laugh. A good laugh will almost always beat the truth as far as I’m concerned. Everything you read on this blog will be true, somewhat true, or something I made up in an effort to get a laugh. Sometimes I will go on a rant that I don’t really mean (or only kind of mean). Sometimes I will mean what I write only to completely change my mind a year, month, or day later. Such is life. By reading this blog you agree not to get offended by anything I write (or, at the very least, you agree not to tell me or anyone else that you are offended). It is worth noting that my employer does not endorse my blog (or even read it, to tell you the truth). The Wife also does not endorse my blog (though she will read it from time to time). I am not paid to write this... it’s just my way of giving back to the community. I have, and will, touch on a wide range of subjects and will give my opinion on these subjects. Again, most of what I say is for laughs but every now and then I will say what I really think and feel (see my views on Westboro Baptist Cult). How will you know when I’m serious and when I’m trying to get a laugh? You’ll know. And if you don’t know, well... maybe this isn’t the best thing for you to be reading. So, sit back, read and enjoy. Leave comments if you want and don’t be afraid to publicly follow me.

Thankful Thursday

Know Your Medal of Honor Recipients:

Sergeant T. B. Glover (US Army) received his Medal of Honor for his actions on April 10, 1879, at Mizpah Creek, Montana and on February 10, 1880, at Pumpkin Creek, Montana. His citation reads:

While in charge of small scouting parties, fought, charged, surrounded, and captured war parties of Sioux Indians.

Corporal Joseph Anthony Glowin (US Marine Corps) received his Medal of Honor for his actions on July 3, 1916, at Guayacanas. His citation reads:

During an engagement at Guayacanas on 3 July 1916, Cpl. Glowin participated in action against a considerable force of rebels on the line of march.

Principal Musician Michael Glynn (US Army) received his Medal of Honor for his actions on July 13, 1872, at Whetstone Mountains, Arizona. His citation reads:

Stove off, single-handed, 8 hostile Indians, killing and wounding 5.

Friends, nothing beats watching a show about elephants on the Animal Planet with your little girls… only to see the mommy elephant poop on the baby elephant. I wish I had a video of Susie’s reaction. It was GREAT! To be fair to the mommy elephant, they were walking when she pooped and the baby elephant just happened to be behind her. Still, watching Mary Ruth and Susie watch it was priceless.

Thankful Thursday

We had a great time at the annual Dunlap 4th of July Pool Party at The Zobel House. The Wife and I are very lucky that I have such great friends and I am always thankful to have a chance to hang out with them. Some weren’t able to make it yesterday, but we had fun with those who were there. It is for all of these friends that I am thankful. Perhaps this could best be said in a song… There is an old Hank Jr. song named “Good Friends, Good Whisky and Good Lovin”. I’m going from memory here, so I might be a little off, but I believe the lyrics go a little something like this:

I've just got one thing to say this is all that matters anyway
Good friends good whiskey and good loving
I want to thank you Lord for giving me all of them to get me by
Take my money take my rings I'd trade it all for just three things
Good friends my good whiskey and good loving.

I, too, am thankful for all of these things.
