Today, of course, is the birthday of my very good friends Jeremy and KC. If you are keeping score at home, Jeremy is now a year away from the big 4-0. KC, on the other hand, has now reached the age (50) where people stop joking about your age because it’s not really polite to make fun of old people. We at
I’m just saying… hope both of these guys have a GREAT DAY!
Speaking of old people… I’m not sure if it’s still happening, but I know of at least one or two occasions when people brought food to Mom and Dad’s house after Teresa Lynn’s surgery. Actually, I believe a lot of people brought a lot of food to Mom and Dad’s house after Teresa Lynn’s surgery… what makes the one or two occasions I first started talking about stick out to me is they happened AFTER Teresa Lynn had left James Island and gone back to her own house. This is just one of the many reasons I list my parents as my heroes. They’ve been able to benefit (without even trying, to be honest) from Teresa Lynn’s surgery without having to pay for the surgery! Not that anyone would want their child to go through something like this… BUT, IF they did have to go through something like this, what better situation could there be? She’s grown with her own insurance and job… the surgery was a success… AND people keep bringing you food! Again, I’m not saying it’s a situation any parent would pick, but if you were in that situation isn’t that the way you’d want it to play out?!
We are getting closer and closer to moving into our new
I’m just sayin… offices. I have been taking pictures throughout the process that I plan to share on here when it’s all done. So far, the building process has been far more fun than the loan-getting process was or the loan-paying back process will be…
I can’t end this post without at least bringing to your attention the recent passing of one of the greatest owners in NFL history. His family is, in my opinion, the greatest family in NFL history… but this is about the passing of Pittsburgh Steelers owner Daniel Milton Rooney (Dan Rooney). I won’t tell you that we named Daniel after him, because we didn’t. I WILL, however, tell you that (and The Wife could be finding this out right now with you) it did play a part in me liking the name. His dad (Art Rooney) was the original Rooney owner of the Steelers… but by early 1969 Dan was managing the day-to-day operations of the team. He was appointed team president in 1975. Under his watch, the franchise won 15 division championships, 8 AFC Championships, and 6 Super Bowl Championships. Just as impressive (in my opinion) is during that time they only had 3 head coaches. Some teams have 3 coaches in 3 years! Years from now, he might be best remembered for the “Rooney Rule”… the NFL policy that requires teams to interview minority candidates for head coaching and senior football operation jobs. His son (Art II) has been running the team for a while now, but Dan Rooney will still be missed by Steelers fans.
