Disclaimer

If you do not know me (I mean, really know me) then there is something you need to understand before you read this blog: I value the truth above everything else... except a good laugh. A good laugh will almost always beat the truth as far as I’m concerned. Everything you read on this blog will be true, somewhat true, or something I made up in an effort to get a laugh. Sometimes I will go on a rant that I don’t really mean (or only kind of mean). Sometimes I will mean what I write only to completely change my mind a year, month, or day later. Such is life. By reading this blog you agree not to get offended by anything I write (or, at the very least, you agree not to tell me or anyone else that you are offended). It is worth noting that my employer does not endorse my blog (or even read it, to tell you the truth). The Wife also does not endorse my blog (though she will read it from time to time). I am not paid to write this... it’s just my way of giving back to the community. I have, and will, touch on a wide range of subjects and will give my opinion on these subjects. Again, most of what I say is for laughs but every now and then I will say what I really think and feel (see my views on Westboro Baptist Cult). How will you know when I’m serious and when I’m trying to get a laugh? You’ll know. And if you don’t know, well... maybe this isn’t the best thing for you to be reading. So, sit back, read and enjoy. Leave comments if you want and don’t be afraid to publicly follow me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sonny and Minde!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to wish my big... err... older brother Sonny a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUST ANOTHER DAY ON THE CALENDAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope he has a normal day!

I would also like to wish my dear sweet friend Minde a VERY HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure Travis and the girls will make this a GREAT day for her!

So, The Wife went to a concert this past Friday with a group of my friends while I was a good parent and took care of our children. I only bring this up because one of the performers at this concert was Coolio.  When it comes to Coolio, I have a confession to make. When I hear the 23rd Psalm and it comes to walking through the valley of the shadow of death... there's a 50/50 chance I will continue with "I will fear no evil: for thou art with me"... there's also a 50/50 chance I will continue with "I take a look at my life and realize there's nothin' left" (from Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise).

Remember to check back tomorrow for a start to an updated Top Movies Countdown!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I (along with everyone else at I’m just sayin… would like to wish my niece Leah a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!! We love her very much and hope she has a GREAT birthday!!!!!!! I would be neglect in my role of uncle if I didn’t point out that there is still time for her to come to her senses and decided to attend Winthrop University next year. I trust she will make the right call…

Below are some pictures of our latest addition… Henry. So far, Scooby is being a bully and has been rather mean to Henry. Gertrude started mean (perhaps, standoffish is more accurate), but she has since come around and they seem to get along just fine now.

This is the picture of Henry we saw on Facebook... with a face like that, how could we not at least visit him and look into adopting him?

On our way home!!!!

Welcome home!

Daniel and Susie meeting Henry

Time for a nap with Mary Ruth

More sleep time

Belly-rubs are nice too

Like any puppy... he loves to chew things.

Henry taking care of a sick Susie...

Time for a drink...

Stop taking my picture!

Ok... it's kind of hard to see because the door is so messy, but if you look closely you can see a stick hanging out of Henry's mouth (kind of looks like a cigar).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEREMY AND KC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today, of course, is the birthday of my very good friends Jeremy and KC. If you are keeping score at home, Jeremy is now a year away from the big 4-0. KC, on the other hand, has now reached the age (50) where people stop joking about your age because it’s not really polite to make fun of old people. We at I’m just saying… hope both of these guys have a GREAT DAY!

Speaking of old people… I’m not sure if it’s still happening, but I know of at least one or two occasions when people brought food to Mom and Dad’s house after Teresa Lynn’s surgery. Actually, I believe a lot of people brought a lot of food to Mom and Dad’s house after Teresa Lynn’s surgery… what makes the one or two occasions I first started talking about stick out to me is they happened AFTER Teresa Lynn had left James Island and gone back to her own house. This is just one of the many reasons I list my parents as my heroes. They’ve been able to benefit (without even trying, to be honest) from Teresa Lynn’s surgery without having to pay for the surgery! Not that anyone would want their child to go through something like this… BUT, IF they did have to go through something like this, what better situation could there be? She’s grown with her own insurance and job… the surgery was a success… AND people keep bringing you food! Again, I’m not saying it’s a situation any parent would pick, but if you were in that situation isn’t that the way you’d want it to play out?!

We are getting closer and closer to moving into our new I’m just sayin… offices. I have been taking pictures throughout the process that I plan to share on here when it’s all done. So far, the building process has been far more fun than the loan-getting process was or the loan-paying back process will be…

I can’t end this post without at least bringing to your attention the recent passing of one of the greatest owners in NFL history. His family is, in my opinion, the greatest family in NFL history… but this is about the passing of Pittsburgh Steelers owner Daniel Milton Rooney (Dan Rooney). I won’t tell you that we named Daniel after him, because we didn’t. I WILL, however, tell you that (and The Wife could be finding this out right now with you) it did play a part in me liking the name. His dad (Art Rooney) was the original Rooney owner of the Steelers… but by early 1969 Dan was managing the day-to-day operations of the team. He was appointed team president in 1975. Under his watch, the franchise won 15 division championships, 8 AFC Championships, and 6 Super Bowl Championships. Just as impressive (in my opinion) is during that time they only had 3 head coaches. Some teams have 3 coaches in 3 years! Years from now, he might be best remembered for the “Rooney Rule”… the NFL policy that requires teams to interview minority candidates for head coaching and senior football operation jobs. His son (Art II) has been running the team for a while now, but Dan Rooney will still be missed by Steelers fans.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd like to wish my Labor Day Cousin Sally a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! All of us at I'm just sayin... hope she has a GREAT day!

As you may or may not know, we have added a new puppy to our family.  I will try to post pictures and more info within the next few days.  His name is Henry (named after one of Dad's uncles).  More to follow...

I haven't had a chance to post about this, but RIP Don Rickles.  If you get a chance today, find videos of him and prepare to laugh until you cry.  He was the kind of guy who could insult you and have you laughing all at the same time. My kind of guy...
