If you do not know me (I mean, really know me) then there is something you need to understand before you read this blog: I value the truth above everything else... except a good laugh. A good laugh will almost always beat the truth as far as I’m concerned. Everything you read on this blog will be true, somewhat true, or something I made up in an effort to get a laugh. Sometimes I will go on a rant that I don’t really mean (or only kind of mean). Sometimes I will mean what I write only to completely change my mind a year, month, or day later. Such is life. By reading this blog you agree not to get offended by anything I write (or, at the very least, you agree not to tell me or anyone else that you are offended). It is worth noting that my employer does not endorse my blog (or even read it, to tell you the truth). The Wife also does not endorse my blog (though she will read it from time to time). I am not paid to write this... it’s just my way of giving back to the community. I have, and will, touch on a wide range of subjects and will give my opinion on these subjects. Again, most of what I say is for laughs but every now and then I will say what I really think and feel (see my views on Westboro Baptist Cult). How will you know when I’m serious and when I’m trying to get a laugh? You’ll know. And if you don’t know, well... maybe this isn’t the best thing for you to be reading. So, sit back, read and enjoy. Where has the week gone?

If you’re friends with The Wife on Facebook then you probably saw this picture:

I can’t believe it’s already Friday. I’ve been busy (again) at work and home, so I don’t have time to post all of these thoughts I’ve got bouncing around in my head. So, I’ll just post my picks…

Summerville at Byrnes – I’m picking Byrnes to win this game.

Ashley Ridge vs. Stratford – I’m picking Stratford to win this game.

Dorman at Gaffney – I’m picking Dorman to win this game.

College
#14South Carolina vs. The Citadel – 12:00pm (PPV) – The Revolutionary War Heroes are looking for win #9. The Citadel is looking to party like it’s 1990. I think the USC defense will carry the day… I’m picking USC to win this game.

#7Clemson at NC State – 3:30pm (ABC) – I hear a lot of people saying this game “doesn’t matter”. I think it does matter. Clemson is going for win #10… something they haven’t seen since 1990. I’m picking Clemson to win this game.

Navy at San Jose State – 4:00pm (ESPN3) – I’m picking Navy to win this game.

CSU at Presbyterian College – 1:00pm – I’m picking PC to win this game.

Wyoming vs. New Mexico – 12:00pm MT (The Mtn. HD) – I’m picking Wyoming to win this game.

Appalachian State at Elon – 3:00pm – I’m picking Appalachian State to win this game (because they aren’t USC and this isn’t a basketball game).

Pittsburgh at Kansas City – 8:20pm (NBC) – I’m picking the Steelers to win this game.

Miami vs. Buffalo – 1:00pm (CBS) – I’m picking Buffalo to win this game.

Know Your Medal of Honor Recipients:

Private John F. Chase (US Army) received his Medal of Honor for his actions on May 3, 1863 at Chancellorsville, Virginia. His citation reads:

Nearly all the officers and men of the battery having been killed or wounded, this soldier with a comrade continued to fire his gun after the guns had ceased. The piece was then dragged off by the two, the horses having been shot, and its capture by the enemy was prevented.

Gunner’s Mate Second Class John Purnell Chatham (US Navy) received his Medal of Honor for his actions on June 13, 20, 21 and 22, 1900 in China. His citation reads:

In action with the relief expedition of the Allied Forces in China, 13, 20, 21 and 22 June 1900. During this period and in the presence of the enemy, Chatham distinguished himself by his conduct.

First Lieutenant Benjamin H. Cheever, Jr. (US Army) received his Medal of Honor for his actions on January 1, 1891 at White River, South Dakota. His citation reads:

Headed the advance across White River partly frozen, in a spirited movement to the effective assistance of Troop K, 6th U.S. Cavalry.
