Disclaimer

If you do not know me (I mean, really know me) then there is something you need to understand before you read this blog: I value the truth above everything else... except a good laugh. A good laugh will almost always beat the truth as far as I’m concerned. Everything you read on this blog will be true, somewhat true, or something I made up in an effort to get a laugh. Sometimes I will go on a rant that I don’t really mean (or only kind of mean). Sometimes I will mean what I write only to completely change my mind a year, month, or day later. Such is life. By reading this blog you agree not to get offended by anything I write (or, at the very least, you agree not to tell me or anyone else that you are offended). It is worth noting that my employer does not endorse my blog (or even read it, to tell you the truth). The Wife also does not endorse my blog (though she will read it from time to time). I am not paid to write this... it’s just my way of giving back to the community. I have, and will, touch on a wide range of subjects and will give my opinion on these subjects. Again, most of what I say is for laughs but every now and then I will say what I really think and feel (see my views on Westboro Baptist Cult). How will you know when I’m serious and when I’m trying to get a laugh? You’ll know. And if you don’t know, well... maybe this isn’t the best thing for you to be reading. So, sit back, read and enjoy. Leave comments if you want and don’t be afraid to publicly follow me.

Happy Birthday Clark!

Let me start by wishing my dear friend Clark a very Happy Birthday! His wife tells me he is 30 years old today. Of course, she also thought that The Wife turned 30 last year... so I’m not sure I can trust her on this one.

I know it’s only Monday, but I wanted to go ahead remind everyone that my new favorite church (Ashley Ridge Church, a New United Methodist Community of All Types of People) will have their first real service this coming Sunday. Starting this Sunday, it’s all for real. No more previews...

Mark McGwire admitted to the AP that he used steroids when he played. Well, I for one am just shocked (SHOCKED)! Here I was thinking Mark was the kind of guy that didn’t want to talk about the past. Next thing you know, Sammy Sosa will understand English!

I’m reading a book right now by/about Larry Bird and Magic Johnson and I just got past a part where they said they really got to know each other for the first time when they were shooting this commercial for Converse. So, the blog today is brought to you by Converse...

Chase Towne update: Remember to keep him and his family in your prayers. This update is from his mom: Hey everyone, Christine here. Just a quick note to let you know Chase's counts were not good enough for chemo this week. A Big Bummer, but I know it's all on God's time. We will try again next Tuesday. I am definitely ready to get the ball rolling. Chase's illness has really put me to the test. It is definitely teaching me all about PATIENCE!! Believe me, I enjoy having him home and watching all the new things he is doing and the boy makes me laugh all of the time. He is hilarious! Hopefully next week will be the week. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for all the prayers. Love, Christine

Cleveland Cavs update: The Cavs lost one at Denver Friday night (97-99) and won one at Portland (106-94). The Cavs lead the Central Division by 11.5 games.

Winthrop Eagles update: The Eagles beat Liberty on Saturday 65-62 to improve their record to 7-9 (3-3 in the Big South). In other Winthrop news, my (and Jeremy’s) friend/brother (fellow Kappa Sigma), Adam Growley, is going to be inducted into the Winthrop Hall of Fame. Here is the bio they have about Adam on the Winthrop website:

Adam Growley — Adam Growley is a member of the class of 2002 and helped lead Winthrop’s cross country team to back-to-back Big South Conference championships in 2000 and 2001. He was named a NCAA All-Southeast Region cross country performer in 1998 and 2000 and qualified for the 2000 NCAA Cross Country Championship. He was selected Big South Cross Country MVP in 2001 after winning the league’s individual championship and was also the 2001 Big South Indoor Track MVP and the 2001 Big South Outdoor Track MVP.
